Black and white photograph of the Canadian Bank of Commerce, located at the corner of Ouellette Avenue and Riverside Drive; the building is situated on the corner, with one panel facing outward into the corner, and is a very tall stone structure; the main floor has an arched entrance with two massive pillars; the second floor has three arched windows on each side and one arched window on the corner facing wall; the third storey has the same number of rectangular windows; there are signs posted above the third storey: "Canadian Bank of Commerce"; the fourth storey has rectangular shuttered windows; other businesses are visible along both Riverside and Ouellette, including Pickard Drugs, immediately to the right of the bank; a number of pedestrians are walking along the sidewalks and some gentlemen are standing in the street in the foreground of the photo; to the extreme left of the photo the back end of a streetcar is visible, along with the streetcar tracks.

History

The bank was built in 1914 and was demolished about 1972. The CIBC office tower now occupies the site.
