Smith Company, Lazare's Furs and the Heintzman & Co. Pianos; the Detroit River runs horizontally through the photograph and a number of ferries are docked on the Detroit side of the river; a large steamer is travelling in the centre of the river; tall office and commercial buildings are visible across the river in Detroit.
