Description

Rectangular paper; copy of a watercolour in shades of blue, green, brown; clapboard church with steeple is in centre; to the left is a dirt road which comes from the foreground and goes around the far side of the church; on the road is a man on horseback and a man and woman in a barouche; to the right of the church and left of the road are trees; Detroit River is in background; Fort Detroit is visible on the far shoreline; wooden frame, ivory mat, back covered with brown paper, hanging wire; description is handprinted on bottom on front; description is handprinted in pencil on back by museum staff.

History

This is a lithograph of a watercolour in the William Clements Library, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. The description on the front bottom must have been added after the War of 1812.
