Print photographic Detroit - looking up at river - 1796

History

This copy was obtained by the Rev. E.J. LaJeunesse, C.S.B., author of the "Windsor Border Region" and presented to the city of Windsor by the honourable Leslie M. Frost, Prime Minister of Ontario, March 1961. Copy of a watercolour by an unknown artist taken from the Collot map which was drawn in 1796 from an earlier map of about 1765 and is now in Paris. In the 1890's, a copy of the sketch of Detroit was painted from the Collot map and is now in the Detroit Public Library.
